Our story

In autumn 2016, I visited the Hotel Le Méditerranée, a Boutique hotel at Hyères port with Mediterranean charm and fell in love with it. Its romantic atmosphere, charming rooms, recently renovated and tastefully decorated, just 100 metres from the sea. This small boutique hotel was for sale, so I made an offer, which was accepted. I sold my house and business in southern Sweden, and the purchase was finalised in early 2017.

This little gem on the French Riviera, located between Saint-Tropez and Toulon, turned out to be even better than I had imagined. Hyères and the Var department surprise most new visitors with their authentic beauty and unspoilt character. It is a fantastic destination in this unspoilt part of the French Riviera, with exceptional nature and surroundings. What’s more, the climate is simply wonderful.

Our guests are generally quite active and enjoy our beautiful, almost endless beaches, sailing, diving, windsurfing, hiking, cycling and visiting nearby tourist attractions. There are countless charming, beautiful and fascinating medieval towns and villages. There are also many galleries and museums displaying high-quality works of art. The vineyards are densely planted here, in the heart of the wine-growing region where the best rosés in France and the world are produced (at least, that is the prevailing opinion here). Here, the word ‘rosé’ is not taken lightly; it is a very serious matter and just as much a part of the culture as red wine is in Bordeaux.

The Îles d’Or (Porquerolles, Port Cros and Le Levant), a must-see for southern Europeans, are virtually unknown to us northern Europeans. Yet these three islands are magical places that are definitely worth discovering. Reserved for pedestrians and renowned for their beautiful beaches and crystal-clear waters, they boast a large number of coves and protected sites. Many choose to explore Porquerolles by renting a bicycle on site. Port-Cros is a terrestrial and marine nature reserve. People come here for hiking, snorkelling and scuba diving. Le Levant, almost a small town in its own right, is one of the oldest naturist sites in Le Méditerranée.

In summary, I find it truly wonderful to live in this part of southern France. The climate is so pleasant, the quality of life is excellent, and the relaxed pace of life contributes to a feeling of relaxation. And above all, there is so much to discover and experience here!

The hotel staff and I warmly invite you to discover the hidden treasures of this region, which has retained its authenticity, and to enjoy a wonderful stay at the Hotel Le Méditerranée.
